Our work is part of wider work being done by Kāhui Tū Kaha to address social and health inequities in Aotearoa.
We have been giving voice to the marginalised experiences of rainbow employees for over 10 years. We began this work with a mission to address the negative health outcomes associated with heteronormativity by improving LGBTTQIA+ inclusion in our workplaces. Our mission remains unchanged. We are proud to deliver diversity and inclusion services from a foundation of indigeneity.
Pānui | News
We’re proud to have members across a wide range of industries, from those with just a few employees to others that are 10,000+ strong. These are employers with an ongoing commitment to creating safe and welcoming workplaces for rainbow employees.
We seek to advance the safety and inclusion of LGBTTQIA+ people in workplaces across Aotearoa by evaluating existing workplace cultures and supporting workplaces to create safe and inclusive workplaces.
Mōhiotanga | Education
We believe accessible education on rainbow inclusion is key to creating safe and welcoming workplaces. We offer a range of educational resources aimed at opening up non-judgmental learning conversations and advising on how to best support rainbow colleagues.
We will listen to your needs and tailor our support to the needs of your people.
Aratakina | Consultation

Rainbow Tick Certification
Q: What is Rainbow Tick certification?
A: Rainbow Tick certification involves an evaluation of your existing workplace culture through the review of organisational policies and practices, and surveying of your staff. If criteria for Rainbow Tick certification are not fully met, specific recommendations are made to guide you in achieving certification.
Q: How much does Rainbow Tick certification cost?
A: We aim to make support with rainbow inclusion at work as accessible as possible. The cost of Rainbow Tick certification depends on the size of your organisation. For an organisation with fewer than 20 staff members, the annual cost can be as low as $1,105.
Q: What is the story behind the Rainbow Tick logo?
A: The Rainbow Tick logo was crafted by Tuteri Rangihaeata of Waha Ltd. At the base of the tick is an adze with a sharp edge representing te toki, an instrument for shaping the attitudes of society. At its tail are shark’s teeth representing te kaha, strength of commitment to wellness and the right to full participation in society. The tick sits on a koru, representing te ao, the world.
We support community initiatives benefitting rainbow communities throughout Aotearoa via The Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust.
